Alex Ferguson told Roo on October 22 he should apologise for threatening to quit.
But, despite two TV interviews since, the striker had made no such apology... until now.
Rooney said: "I feel like I have apologised to the fans but everyone keeps saying I haven't.
"If that is the case, then I apologise for my side of things."
Rooney agreed to sign a five-year deal to stay at Old Trafford on October 22 - just two days after it was revealed he wanted to quit the club.
Boss Fergie said then: "He has apologised to me and the players and I think he'll do that with the fans which is important because we have all been hurt by the events of the past few days."
Rooney, 25, made his apology after celebrating his first start for United in two months with the goal in Wednesday night's 1-0 Champions League win over Rangers at Ibrox.
The striker had originally said he was quitting United as he questioned the investment in the squad and the club's ambition.
But he changed his mind following talks with the manager, chief executive David Gill and the club's owners, the Glazers.
Rooney said: "They reassured me the club was moving forward and from that it took maybe two or three hours to negotiate my contract and sign it.
"I have made it clear since I signed my contract that I am committed to this club for the long term and I want to be successful with this club."
